Ocean Youth Trust South is seeking to recruit an Administrator in our Gosport office to work three days per week, or equivalent hours over five days.
Role and Responsibilities
Make a positive difference. Every day.
No two days are the same at OYT South. What every day has in common is knowing you are making a lasting difference to young people’s lives.
You’ll need to be passionate about changing young people’s lives for the better. A keen interest in sail training wouldn’t hurt, either. You’ll also need some key skills of course. An understanding of book-keeping is essential, as are great admin skills, the ability to think outside the box, and the capacity to work independently as well as being a good team player.
This is a brand new role with an award winning charity. Based at our office in Gosport, you’ll be a key part of our close-knit admin team, helping to provide a first class admin and support service for sail training operations on board our vessel, Prolific.
Reporting to the Admin Manager, this role has an extremely varied brief. If you can think on your feet, prioritise your own workload, and juggle a number of tasks at the same time, we’d love to hear from you.
Some of the things you’ll be doing will include:
Qualifications and Education Requirements
A good standard of education is expected, as the right candidate will need to be highly numerate and literate. IT skills and a familiarity with basic book-keeping are a distinct advantage. The charity will need to obtain an enhanced check from the Disclosure and Barring Service to ensure your suitability for working with children and vulnerable adults.
Preferred Skills
Book-keeping skills or experience are a key requirement. The successful candidate will also need to be IT literate and able to work independently in Word, Excel, Outlook and other Microsoft office applications. You’ll also be using the charity’s custom-built booking system (training will be given on this system). A high level of organizational ability is essential for this role. An eye for detail and the ability to prioritise your own workload are also necessary.
Additional Notes
This is a key role in a small team. Of our seven full time employees, only two are based in the office, of which this role is one. The ability to maintain regular communication with up to five remote-working staff, including the Chief Executive and the Business Manager is critical. The current Finance Manager is stepping back to a part time role, which means that in time the Administrator will be required to run the office independently three days per week. The ability to work effectively unsupervised and alone is therefore also essential.
Salary
£17,500 pro rata.
