Have you enjoyed a voyage with us and started thinking about a maritime career?

Maritime Careers

The maritime sector includes a huge variety of career opportunities, with roles for people with few qualifications but more practical skills, through to graduates. Some jobs involve actually going to sea – under sail, or in a large commercial vessel, or a submarine, or a tug. But there are plenty of maritime jobs which don’t involve being at sea – or not for long periods. You might work in a boatyard, or become a rigger or a sailmaker or a marine engineer. You might develop new marine electronics or marine paint. You might be a yacht designer, or make anything from winches to bunk cushions. You might work in sales or marketing or communications where an interest in the maritime world would shine through. You might work in admin, or make videos, or create nautical charts, or test lifejackets or life-rafts, or service outboards. You might publish nautical books, or work for a yacht charter company, or be a chef, or an entertainer on a cruise ship. You might find a role in protecting our oceans, our environment and our ocean wildlife. You could be a lifeboat crew member, or joiin the Coastguard. Or you might work for a charity – like Ocean Youth Trust South! The possibilities are endless ….

Follow the links below to explore a small selection of opportunities within the maritime industry.

If you are an employer in the maritime sector who is able to offer interesting roles to young people, email us to ask to be added to this list.
